Jane Dismore’s third non-fiction book (Princess: the Early Life of Queen Elizabeth II) will be published in 2018 by Globe Pequot Press (US and Canada). She started writing features for well-known women’s magazines in the UK while teaching English to A-level in secondary schools. A complete change of lifestyle saw her running private yachts in the Mediterranean for four years, which led to her writing travel articles. While teaching English as a Foreign Language to Spanish students, and GCSE English to the British Army in Gibraltar, Jane had a regular radio slot, presenting her features on the British Forces Broadcasting Service.
After returning to Britain she qualified as a solicitor and worked in private practice but continued to write. In 2013 her first non-fiction book The Voice From the Garden: Pamela Hambro and the Tale of Two Families Before and After the Great War was longlisted for the New Angle Prize for Literature. Later that year her proposal for her second book resulted in a publishing contract and she began to write full-time. Duchesses: Living in 21st Century Britain was published in September 2014 by Blink Books (an imprint of Bonnier Publishing).
Jane divides her time between research for future books, writing articles and helping writers via BetterProse.
